TGIF, folks! It’s been quite a week for us over here at BA4B – see, I don’t even have the time to write out the full name of the group. There’s been a ton of great stuff worth reading this week, and I couldn’t possibly cover it all, but here’s my best attempt:
First, Looky What We’ve Done: On our blog, Sara comments on Black Lives Matter and Peter shares a letter he sent to the San Francisco Chronicle editor about what happened in Ferguson. And you can now listen to our dulcet tones via our new podcast.
So What Happened in Seattle? Bernie got on stage at a Defend Social Security rally in Seattle, and a few Black Lives Matter activists got on the stage as well, asking for silence from the crowd in recognition of the one-year anniversary of Michael Brown’s murder in Ferguson. For some context, I suggest this post.
And Then What Happened? At his next stop, in Portland, Oregon, Symone Sanders, his new press secretary, introduced him to a crowd of 19,000 inside and 9,000 outside, and the campaign posted a new plank to his platform dealing specifically with racial justice qua racial justice.
Are You Jealous that Symone Sanders, Who Is 2 Years Younger Than You, Is Able to Speak at Length in Front of a Crowd of 28,000 and You Still Have Night Sweats When You Dream About that One Time When You Speak for 37 Seconds in Front of 100 People? No.
What Else? El – A! Around 27,500 of our neighbors down south trooped to the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. Someone over at Huffington Post sneers at major news outlets as they continue to ignore Bernie – lamestream media, amirite?
How About Polls? Whoo-hoo! In a new poll, Bernie is winning the primary in New Hampshire. All the usual disclaimers apply – I can hear it now: “Will someone please think of the margin of error?!” But all-in-all, our man Bernie gran-ain’t doing so bad. (That pun probably worked better in my head. It’s because New Hampshire is the granite state. Get it?)
So Who Else Likes Bernies? Nurses and rappers.
But What Do the Millenials Think About Bernie, in the few spare moments we have between sending text message break ups and taking selfies for our Tumblrs? The Huffington Post is on it.
I Don’t Have Time to Read All That. Good news – there’s this YouTube video that I find cute for reasons I can’t quite articulate:
What’s Next? In addition to the racial justice platform, Bernie also rolled out a nifty event calendar. You can find and add events all day long. We can still get you fliers, bumper stickers, window signs, and buttons. Please e-mail your supply request toevents@bayareaforbernie.com after you list your event on berniesanders.com.
Anything Else We Should Know? Like An Embarrassing Personal Admission? I sometimes agree with Antonin Scalia. Beyond the fact that he puts the “fun” in “fundamentally unsound originalist doctrine,” he occasionally gets the Fourth Amendment right.

Yes, nurses love Bernie! I am an RN and a member of NNU, and I was there to see Bernie speak and for the endorsement in Oakland on Monday! It was simply amazing!
